update bridge won't work

I've been having issues with Bridge lately, mostly that I can't boot it without rebooting my computer. I see there is an update and I downloaded that. But when I double-click on it a window opens up that is empty, and eventually disappears. I've tried twice! I'm on a Mac running 10.9.3. Thanks, Dave
