What is Adobe PDF Settings CS6 11 required for? What functionality is missing when not installed?

Hi All,

I'm not an Adobe Creative Suite user so I don't know the Adobe application, content, features etc. What I do know is how to use AAMEE 3.1 and use the resultant components.

I've packaged Adobe CS6 Design Standard 6 x86 (via AAMEE 3.1) and now all components are placed in an SCCM TS (Task Sequence) in the advised order. Step 4 for 5 is Adobe PDF Settings CS6 11. It seems that in a few cases this step is failing and the sequence stops. Step 5 of 5 is Adobe Help and when Step 4 fails, Step 5 is skipped.

My questions are:

1. What is Adobe PDF Settings CS6 11? What does is actually provide the CS6 Design Standard installation?
2. If this is not installed,
   1. what functionality is missing from the Suite?  This ties in with Q1.
   2. can you live without it?  What is the Adobe recommendation?
3. Whilst I'm here, Adobe Help:
   1. what does it provide the user?
   2. within it Local Content shows some items and most say Status = Pending Download and nothing much seems to happen here (i've never seen it change). Computers are behind a proxy requiring authentication in a corp environment.
