Can't log into desktop Creative Cloud

When I try to log into the desktop CC app to update my cc software, I get a "You have been signed out" message. I have tried re-installing the app but it still won't let me log in to update applications.

It's a vicious circle. I add my email and password in the sign in window and click the button and the wheel turns and then I get the you have been signed out message.......what gives?

I hope someone has an answer for me.
